This documentary by Robert Kenner left me feeling
speechless. It brings up a issue that
many of us living in America have already been noticing; our nation as a whole
eat too much sugar and carbs. Even these packages claiming they are “fat
free” are not exactly our answer to a healthy nation. We have the highest obesity, cancer and
diabetes rates and there needs to be something done about it.
This documentary makes me realize that
although the food we eat is cheap, fast and generally tasteful, there is a
consequence for worrying about convenience over nutrition and the effect that our
eating habits have on the enviornemnt and ourselves . The documentary brings up the fact and has
evidence to prove that the food produced, although cheap, is filled with
chemicals and bacteria and therefore contaminated. This film takes a greater look into corporate
farming in our nation proving that the food we produce is harmful to the
environment, the animals and humans.
What it says under the title of the film "you will never look at dinner the same" cannot be more true. There is a big section of the film on the production of meat such as
chicken, beef and pork, which honestly has made me not want to eat again. It is extremely disturbing and has altered
the way I will think when I simply grab a fast, cheap burger. This film had the same effect on me that “Supersize Me" had. It is ridiculous that our corporations put
their self profit over our societies overall health, safety, and environment. “The industry doesn’t want you to know the
truth about what your eating, because if you do you might not eat it.” This is a quote from the film and I feel like
things really need to be changed. When we buy our food it stands as our vote and
opinion on the food we eat. We are not
powerless in this problem we have the power to change, and things can change if people become informed.
